Stemcell Therapy

A Next-Generation Approach

Everyone on earth will undergo the ageing process that is known as senescence or “biological ageing”. The ageing process brought to us by mother nature cannot be avoided but when the physical signs of ageing occur (usually through many factors including depletion of stem cells) starts to take hold, there are ways to manage the process through science.

Thanks to modern medicine and recent developments in medical and cell regeneration technology, it is now possible for the doctors to greatly slow down the process through the use of proper dieting, healthy eating habits, and stem cell therapy for anti-ageing and wellness.

What is Stem Cell Therapy?

Stem Cell Therapy, the latest trend in aesthetic & anti-aging medicine in Kuala Lumpur

Stemcell Therapy, also known as regenerative medicine, is an emerging, yet rapidly expanding field that combines knowledge from multi-disciplinary basic research to established clinical applications towards the aim of repairing, replacing and re-growing damaged tissue to restore its normal function. Strategies to regain tissue function following an injury include cell therapy, tissue engineering, and gene therapy, which can be alternatives to traditional organ replacement therapies.

Stem Cell Therapy is a treatment to help increase the total number of stem cells in your body to enhance your body’s well-being and treat many illnesses.

We are one of the few clinics that offering stemcell therapy in Kuala Lumpur.

What are Stem Cells?

Stem cells are the body’s raw materials — cells from which all other cells with specialized functions are generated. Under the right conditions in the body or a laboratory, stem cells divide to form more cells called daughter cells.

These daughter cells either further divide into new stem cells or differentiate into cells with specific function such as brain cells, blood cells, bone cells or muscle cells. No other cell in the body has the natural ability to generate new cell types.

What are the types of Stem Cell Therapy available?

At My Bliss Clinic, we offer mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapies.

MSCs are multipotent adult stem cells that present in multiple tissues. They are self-renewable, which are able to replicate and self-renew by undergoing cell division. Multipotent MSCs can differentiate into multiple tissues including bone, cartilage, muscle, fat cells, and connective tissue.

There are 3 types of MSC therapies available:

  • Adipose stem cells – fat cells are harvested from the patient’s abdomen or thighs which contain large amount of stem cells.
  • Cord stem cells – derived from umbilical cord of healthy donor.
  • Bone marrow stem cells – sourced from young, healthy bone marrow donors from Russian and Japanese stem cell banks.

What are the advantages of adipose (fat) stem cells?

Adipose tissue stem cells (ASCs), known as multipotent stem cells, are most commonly used in clinical applications in recent years. Adipose tissues have the advantage in the harvesting, isolation, and expansion of ASCs, especially in an abundant amount of stem cells compared to bone marrow. ASCs can be found in stromal vascular fractions (SVF) which are easily obtained from the dissociation of adipose tissue.

As most people have adequate fat supplies and the numbers of stem cells are abundant, there is no need to culture the cells over a period of days as compared with bone marrow. They can be used right away. Extraction is by mini liposuction from areas such as abdomen and thighs.

What are the advantages of cord stem cells?

A lot of studies support that MSCs derived from umbilical cord have greater application potential than mesenchymal stem cells derived from other tissues. It is the youngest, most primitive and most abundant MSCs source.

What are the advantages of bone marrow stem cells?

Kintaro stem cell from Japan was established in 2011 and based on more than 50 years of Russian technology and enhanced by the latest Japanese technology. Young and healthy bone marrow stem cells are sourced from Russian and Japanese stem cell banks, providing safe form of therapy. With the ability to retain 75% cell viability for up to 48 hours during transportation, patients receive only the freshest and highest quality of stem cells.

Process for Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell therapy is a cell treatment therapy that involves the process of repairing and replacement of damaged cells within the body using stem cells. This therapy is widely used in the case of various medical and health conditions like injuries and diseases, Also, this stem cell therapy is applicable for reducing ageing symptoms like wrinkles, dullness, scars, fine lines, dark spots, and more. The process of stem cell therapy may include the following steps:

Evaluation of Patient

It is necessary to evaluate the patient before starting stem cell therapy. The process of patient evaluation includes a thorough check of the medical history of the patient and his or her current health situation. Overall, the first step involves taking a complete overview of the patient’s health condition.

Stem Cell Source

It is also important for the doctor to determine which type of stem cell should be used for a patient’s treatment. There are different mesenchymal stem cell sources available, namely adipose (fat) tissues, umbilical cord and bone marrow. Therefore doctors may choose any of such stem cell sources depending on the patient’s health condition.

Stem Cells Collection

The process of stem cell therapy generally involves harvesting of stem cells from patient’s own fat tissues, or from umbilical cord or bone marrow cells of the donor.

Isolation and Processing

In this step, stem cells need to get isolated from the source and taken for processing in the laboratory for refining stem cells and removing other components from cells or tissues.

Preparation for Administration

This step of stem cell therapy involves the preparation of the patient’s body for stem cell administration. It is done through varied methods like IV (intravenous Infusion), or direct injecting cells to the targeted area.

Recovery & Follow-Up

Within the first 2 weeks after having stem cell therapy, the patient might feel tired with some muscle soreness. There might have inflammation at the site of injections. These are completely normal and expected. Resting and keep your body well hydrated are important to speed up the recovery of your body. A detailed post treatment advice will be provided and our team will follow up closely with you. The result of stem cell therapy is not immediate, it takes up to 6 weeks to feel or visualize the differences.

Precautions During the Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell therapy is a complex process, which involves different steps that should be taken care of wisely by healthcare professionals or doctors during treatment. Some of the key precautions to consider during stem cell therapy are as follows:

  • Evaluation of patient’s previous and current health condition.
  • Treatment should be undergone by the supervision of qualified and experienced healthcare professionals and doctors.
  • Patients should provide complete details and reports of previous treatments that might include details of the patient’s health conditions, risks, and alternative treatments.
  • Doctors should choose stem cells sourced from safe areas in the patient’s body.
  • During stem cell collection, the doctor should choose a safe sterile technique or method to prevent the patient from any infection or health complication after stem cell therapy. It is important to keep the patient under observation for recovery checks after treatment.
  • For any side-effect or symptoms, patients should consult healthcare experts or doctors.

At My Bliss Clinic, stem cells can be administered in different ways:

  • Intravenous method – through intravenous infusion, stem cells enter into our bloodstream and travel to targeted organs to repair the damaged tissues.
  • Local administration – stem cells can be injected directly into local areas such as face, scalp and knees for better results on the treated areas.
